And once you realize the limited yet functional capabilities of the older versions of Publisher, you'll see why. That means it was one of the tools that InDesign was intended to replace, as a matter of fact. In fact, it was already around for about 8 years by the time InDesign was released. Microsoft Publisher was a natural extension of the capabilities of Word. Apple M1 chip support for faster processing on Mac (an important aspect, as you'll see).Adobe Fonts and Adobe Stock template import option\.Integration with Adobe Experience and Creative Cloud.Extensive and intricate page layout tools.Let's take a quick look at the features sported by InDesign. The integration with other Adobe applications and its own inherent features soon grew to a level where it became the professional design tool of choice.Īs for its purpose, InDesign can be used to create both printable and digital assets such as brochures, mobile page layouts, eBooks, newsletters, marketing material, infographics, and many other such creations. InDesign gradually evolved into a more sophisticated product, and today it's a lot more than a simple page layout tool. A few products had made it to the top, but non-professional users were still stuck with hiring a dedicated designer to operate most of these tools.Įnter InDesign, which offered a user interface that was simpler and more intuitive (for its time), which users could simply sink into and start creating their own stunning designs without having to hire an expensive resource for the purpose. It's definitely worth a look.InDesign was launched in 1999 as an alternative to the numerous but clunky graphic design tools that were available at the time. In sum, fast response from the company to queries great customer relations attitude continuous development great price and a 30 day trial period of the full program. Keep in mind this program is still in development and those involved will be adding stuff as they complete the testing. Initially there were some issues but the speed and friendliness of the responses from the team separates this company from its competition. Came across iStudio Publisher and have been very pleased. Ain't going to happen, hence my search for another DTP. However, the deal breaker for me was their move to CC and the rental thing. Currently I use InDesign CS6 and have found it fit for purpose but with a steep learning curve. UrbanmeisterNov 17, 2014 0I've been playing with this program for a couple of weeks now and must admit to being impressed. I left my original review in the 3 Licence Pack location but decided to publish it here as well for general info They also listen to suggestions and requests for future updates and consider those ideas for development as possible.Īll in all, I could not be happier with a software/app or the people behind the scenes!!! The customer support at iStudio is beyond great! They are prompt, thorough, and go the extra mile to offer solutions for any question asked, they respond within hours, (not days!), and are so patient, informative, and friendly. Again, as a novice to desktop publishing, I have had numerous questions, especially at the beginning of my learning. The clients have been very impressed with the end products.Īny review would be lacking without reference to the customer support provided by the developer. In addition, the recently added option of "Export Document as a Booklet" is a fabulous feature for publishing booklets for viewing on iPads and computer screens without numerous added steps. However, iStudio Publisher has allowed me to learn as I go and still prepare very professional layouts on various sizes of pages. The preparation of multipage instructional lessons consisting of photographs, graphic representations of equipment in industry, and text can be a challenge. Although it is not a drawing program, I am still able to create small icons and graphics easily with professional looking results. The software is very user friendly and intuitive, and it allows me to do everything I need to do with a very small learning curve. Several years ago, I downloaded iStudio Publisher and have been extremely pleased with it ever since. I am a "self-teaching" desktop publisher.
